How to Merge M3U Playlists
If you subscribe to multiple IPTV services or have collected playlists from different sources, managing them separately is inconvenient. Our merger tool combines all channels from every playlist into a single M3U file. Simply upload or paste each playlist, configure your duplicate handling preferences, and download the unified result. The tool preserves all channel metadata including names, logos, groups, and EPG IDs.
Duplicate Detection Methods
When merging playlists, duplicates are common — the same channel often appears in multiple provider lists. The merger offers two detection methods: URL matching (recommended) identifies channels with identical stream addresses, which is the most accurate since different channels can share the same name. Name matching identifies channels with the same display name regardless of URL, which is useful when providers mirror the same channel on different servers. You can enable both methods simultaneously for the most thorough deduplication.
Organizing Groups After Merging
When playlists from different sources use different group naming conventions (e.g., one uses 'Sports' while another uses 'US Sports' or 'Live Sports'), the merged result can have fragmented groups. Enable the 'Prefix group names with playlist number' option to keep groups separated by source (P1: Sports, P2: Sports). After merging, you can use our M3U Playlist Editor to rename and consolidate groups as needed.
Common Use Cases for Playlist Merging
The most common scenarios include: combining a live TV playlist with a separate VOD playlist into one file; merging playlists from two IPTV providers into a unified channel list; creating a master playlist from regional sub-playlists (e.g., US channels + UK channels + sports); and consolidating backup playlists that have overlapping content. The tool handles all of these scenarios and supports merging 2 or more playlists at once.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does duplicate detection work?
You can detect duplicates by exact URL match (recommended — most accurate since different channels can have the same name) or by channel name (useful for catching the same channel on different servers). Enable both for thorough deduplication.
Is there a limit on how many playlists I can merge?
No, you can merge as many playlists as you like. Click 'Add Another Playlist' to add more input slots. Each playlist can contain any number of channels.
What happens to channel logos and EPG IDs during merge?
All metadata is preserved. Each channel keeps its original name, logo URL, group, and EPG ID. When duplicates are removed, the first occurrence's metadata is kept.
Can I merge playlists from different IPTV providers?
Yes, this is one of the most common use cases. Each playlist is parsed independently, so different providers' formats are handled correctly. Use the group prefix option to keep each provider's channels identifiable.
